About leaving TVI: "I wasn't being treated the way I thought I deserved"

Fátima Lopes once again addressed one of the most significant chapters of her television career: her departure from TVI. Guest on the podcast 'A Esperança trás do Muro', hosted by André Filipe Oliveira , the presenter spoke openly about the difficult decision she made and the reasons that led her to leave the Queluz station.

“I left TVI for the sake of, first, my sanity, which is very valuable. In other words, there are times when we have to decide whether to choose ourselves or let ourselves be buried. And even though I didn’t know what was on the other side of the wall, there was hope,” explained Fátima.

The former TVI presenter confessed that she didn't feel valued at the station and that, despite her fear of the unknown, she realized it was time for a change: “I was in a house where I wasn't happy, I wasn't being treated the way I thought I deserved, and so I was taught that if you're not happy here, if they don't treat you the way you deserve, it's time to leave, even if I don't know what's next.”

Fátima Lopes also admitted that the exhaustion accumulated over almost three decades of listening to difficult life stories had a big impact on her own energy. "I'm also tired, because doing programs every day with so many other people's dramas, and I spent 27 years listening to these stories from others, is a heavy thing" , she explained.

The presenter also revealed that she no longer recognized herself: “I was no longer that happy, playful Fátima” .
